11 months

I'm 11 months old! I now weigh 19 lbs, 5 oz. Mommy asked Dr. P. to check my mouth because I have been having teething symptoms for a few weeks, but no teeth. Dr. P. says my gums are all swollen, so it looks like there might be more than one tooth on the way. Mommy wishes they would just hurry up! This teething business is painful for mommy as well as me!

I am getting closer and closer to walking every day, but no steps yet. I'm getting braver with taking steps while only holding one of mommy or daddy's hands, and am starting to let go of the furniture for a few seconds while I am standing.

My new favorite activity is taking things out of drawers, cupboards and containers, and then putting things back in...not necessarily where I got them from in the first place. Mommy & daddy have to be careful of what they let me play with now, else they might not find it, because I put it in my mouth and crawl away with it.

A couple of weeks ago, I started doing my first sign consistently. Here's a video of me signing "Light" Mommy and I are joining another signing class in a couple of weeks. She keeps signing lots of things to me...I wonder what I will sign next?

I can follow instructions now...for instance if Daddy tells me to put the block in the bucket, or if mommy asks me to give her what I am holding. I understand lots of what Mommy and Daddy say to me - I can point out lots of things around the house, and I can also point to things I want so Mommy & Daddy can get them for me. I also can stick out my tongue when Mommy asks me where it is: Where's your tongue
I started having dairy products this month. I had cheese for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE it!! I can't get enough of cheese. I also like yogurt, and I Mommy just started giving me whole milk last week in my sippy cup. I love milk, just like my Mommy does. All of this food with lots of protein and fat means I don't need to nurse as frequently, so Mommy now gets a 4 hour break in between feedings now and then.

My friend Benjamin's mommy (Carla) is going to be looking after me when Mommy goes back to work. She was supposed to go back on March 6th...my birthday (how unfair is that?) but she decided to take 4 weeks of vacation, so now she is going back on April 3rd. Mommy was going to put me in a daycare downtown, but she likes it much better now that she knows her friend will be watching me. I have gotten to know Carla over the past several months, and I like her. They live on my street, so I won't have to get up early to go downtown with mommy on the subway, and it will be fun to play with Benjamin every day.
