Things have been very busy, so sorry there have been no updates for a while. I just turned 19 months on Friday, so this is my 18 month update a little late, with some 19 month stuff thrown in.
I have been very, very busy the last couple of months.
Biggest news.....Talking!!
I have well over 200 words now. Mommy was keeping track up until a week ago. She can no longer keep up - I am repeating most of what Mommy and Daddy say now. Here are the highlights, and some funny pronunciations:
needle & test - our cat Scratchy (Ka-kee) has diabetes. Mommy gives her blood glucose testing and needles with insulin. Mommy's going to get some funny looks if I say this in public!
Coffee (caw-kee)
Hep! = Help!
Dunda = bumblebee
Bwee-oh, bwee-oh: a siren, whenever I see a fire engine or police car or hear a siren
gaw-gage (garbage)
noogle = noodle
turgle = turtle
molie = guacamole
laun-ree = laundry
dada = pizza
va va = vaseline
za za = zebra
maw-wa = water
dah/doh/duh = yes (I like to switch them up)
nop = milk (said fast, as in "nope")
I'm saying many many more words, and much more clearly than these ones, but they don't sound quite as cute or funny when I say them correctly!
Signs:
I now know 43 signs. Now that I'm talking a lot, I haven't been using them as often, but I like to bring them out now and then, just to show I still remember. Plus I'm still learning new ones. I can sign 'Please' (and say it: "teese") and 'Thank You' and I often sign and say 'Please' when I am asking for something. How can mommy resist giving me whatever I want when I look and sound so cute?!
Other little tidbits:
Bum! - I announce 'bum' whenever I sit on my bum.
Fast! - I like to go fast! sometimes when I'm in the car, and Daddy speeds up, revving the engine, I can be heard in the back seat saying 'brrrmmm brrrrmmm....Fast!"
I'm really loving Itchy and Scratchy (our cats) these days, but I can get a little over-enthusiastic. I run up to them exclaiming 'pat, pat, pat' all the while swinging my arm up and down, smacking them on the back. Poor Itchy and Scratchy. Scratchy is so gentle she just puts up with it, but Itchy has given me a few swats by now. Mommy and Daddy are trying desperately to teach me to be gentle, "stroke" "soft" and I am starting to learn.
Kisses - Every so often I get on a kissing kick. I'll start making a kissing sound and go in for the kiss. I even kiss the cats, and sometimes my stuffed animals.
Owies - I'm all about getting my owie's kissed. I'll frequently come up with all sorts of imaginary hurts just so I can get mommy or daddy to kiss it better. I've even been known to have freckles that hurt! And that's not all - if mommy and daddy are inaccessible (like if I'm in my carseat and we're driving) then I just kiss them myself!
Colors!
Last week, I learned to identify blue, yellow, green, orange and red! I am able to pick out the right color when asked. I can say green, yellow, blue and purple too.
