Christian is really starting to be less a baby and more a little boy. He's talking so well now, full sentences most of the time. It's amazing to see how fast his language is developing. He's still mixing up his pronouns a bit, but improving all the time.
Got some toilet training going on. He'll go on the potty or toilet sometimes, even telling us when he has to go a lot of those times, but other times, she still goes in his diaper. Seems to be hit or miss. It's a little early yet, and he's pretty much gotten this far on his own, with little intervention from us, so we're just going with the flow (no pun intended) for now. If he still hasn't progressed by the end of the summer, we'll probably make a more concerted effort as he approaches the transition to preschool (Yikes, how did that happen). It'll be easier in summer anyway, without extra layers of clothing.
We went to the zoo this weekend. They've got a Dinosaurs Alive exhibit. They've got life-size models of dinosaurs with sounds and movement. I was a bit concerned that he might be scared, but he wasn't at all. It was a pretty good exhibit, although I think it would have been better if they could have used a bigger tent to spread it out a bit. It was a little difficult to view the T-rex because it was so big and you were standing right below it. Unfortunately, I had a memory card problem, and was forced to format the card, so no pics from this zoo trip. Will have to post pics from our next visit. With all the animals that he could see at the zoo, the one he talked about seeing most was the raccoon! When we were at the beaver enclosure, he went up to the glass, saying: "There might be raccoons in here....nope!....I don't mind."
Big boy bed and dreaming of cars?
A few weeks ago, we got him a mattress (memory foam, no less) and put it on the floor in his room. he immediately expressed interest in sleeping on it, so we thought we might as well try it. He's been doing great! Didn't affect his sleeping at all. He's still sleeping thru the night.
He's been talking a lot about the cars though....has been for about 2 months now, only now that he's communicating better, he can tell us more. So apparently there are cars that come in his room...they drive on the carpet. He talks about them in detail - what color they are, where they are going (to the gas station or the car store) I asked him if they were nice and he said they were, although in the next breath he said he was scared of the them. I'm not sure if it's dreams he's having, or just an overactive imagination, but it sure is fascinating.
